During my career I have traveled the globe, flying 130,000 miles per year and regularly visiting various countries. Like you, I was always "on". When I returned home, it was always an adjustment. When I approached my home coming from the airport I always reminded myself to dial it back. My wife and I came to call the adjustment period "coming in for a landing".
The trips always reminded me that our world is a big beautiful place filled with some terrific people, and some not so terrific people (just like home). Young children, not yet changed by their societies, offered great joy and hope. Finally, everyday was a gift and I had so much to be grateful for.
During your travels, when you are "on" you are spreading joy, laughter and smiles. Just like the real you. No wonder people like you.
Thanks for this lovely comment, Bill. Seeing my friends definitely felt like I was coming in for a landing. It's been an amazing trip through some beautiful places, and I'm so grateful to have you along for the ride :)
John!! It's so funny you should have commented when you did--that week, I was back in Bordeaux, visiting traveling family! I made sure to tell them ALL about Le Petit Commerce 😉
Sadly, I think Spain is out of the cards for this trip. I'm going to save it for another day, when I have stored up enough Spanish to really be able to use it. Then I will sample all that tasty food you waxed so eloquently about!! 😁
It will be something to look forward to! We are currently in Valencia for a few weeks. I haven't eaten anything other than fish for the past three weeks! That's how good the seafood is here!
So happy you got to meet with your friends and be your real you 🤗
However, in my opinion, and while some some might think it biased, it is none the less true; I think the real you is more than enough for whomever you meet‼️
I can relate.

Hi Casey...
You're in the wrong country! Whatever happened to Spain? Head south young man, and your mood, like the weather, will lift!
